She joined the Genia Laboratory in 1994 to carry out her thesis work: Molecular Analysis of the BCR-ABL translocation in patients with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia under the guidance of Dr. Rosario Uriarte PhD.

 

Upon returning to Uruguay after her Postgraduate studies in Davis, USA, she worked as Head of New Developments, directing the setup of more than 60 assays linked to both the human and animal genetics sectors. She served as the Director of the Genia Montevideo Laboratory, managing 20 people.

 

She is the founder of GeneXa and is responsible for overall management. She is in charge of executing the company’s policies regarding commercial and operational aspects, coordination of quality controls, implementation of quality management, people management, and new product development.

Andrés joined the Genia Laboratory in 1993 as an office runner (cadet) and subsequently covered all required positions such as laboratory assistant and administrative assistant, eventually taking charge of the commercial management of Genia Montevideo.
